How does snow mode work on a 4x2 Nissan Pathfinder?

What exactly does Snow Mode do on a 4x2 Nissan Pathfinder? Since there's no power going to the rear wheels, how effective is it in slick conditions? Does it adjust throttle response, braking, or shift points? I'd really like to understand how it improves traction without the benefit of all-wheel drive

it makes the throttle less responcive and keeps the transmission in the tallest gear possible, meaning it will shift early. In other words it like a limp mode, but you can actually drive somewhere. It's not a replacement for awd, but it reduces slip and helps you not get stuck in slippery situations

Thanks, that clears things up a lot, it sounds like it's more about control than actual traction, it makes sense now why it helps without needing AWD
