Manual liftgate latch won't open

Having a weird issue with my 2015, I can't get the manual liftgate latch to open, it unlocks just fine both with key fob and manually, but the latch itself refuses to budge and not that its stuck or something, its not just engaging at all, I already tried the inside access panel trick, but there's not much room to work with and I don't want to break anything trying to force it. Can anyone help me find a workaround?

Im thinking the latch mechanism itself might be jammed or the actuator isnt fully releasing it even though it's unlocking. Try to gently press in on the liftgate while pulling the handle, sometimes that relieves pressure and lets it release. If that doesnt work, you may need to carefully remove more of the inside panel to manually trip the latch with a flat tool, do it slowly though to avoid breaking clips. If it' still stuck, then yeah, replace it. lol

What happens when you press the latch while someone else tries pushing or pulling the liftgate from outside, does it feel completely loose or like it's catching on something?

One trick is to have someone press on the liftgate gently while you try to open it, the little bit of pressure can sometimes take stress off the latch and help it release but if that doesn't work, you may have to fully remove the interior panel (as annoying as it is) to get a better look without forcing anything
